In the world of branding, size isn’t just an advantage – it’s a necessity. If you aren’t dominating the skyline, stopping the high-street commute, or transforming a plain exhibition hall into an immersive brand experience, you’re blending in. And at Hollywood Monster, we don’t do “blending in.”
For 30 years, we’ve been the engine room behind some of the UK’s most ambitious visual projects, helping brands like McDonald’s, Adidas, and Mulberry create something exceptional. But how do we turn a digital file into a 50-metre building wrap or a sustainable tension fabric display? It starts with the tech. To understand how to achieve a #MonsterImpact, you need to understand the types of large-format printers that make it possible.
What is Large Format Printing?
Before we talk hardware, let’s define the stakes. Large format printing (also known as wide-format) refers to any print project that requires specialised equipment to handle rolls or sheets larger than your standard commercial press. We’re talking widths from 60 inches to over 5 metres.
Whether it’s hoardings for a new construction site or wallpaper for a corporate HQ, the goal is always the same: crisp resolution, vibrant colour, and durability that stands up to the British weather.
Why Large Format is the Future of Marketing
The post-pandemic recovery has plateaued, and the centres winning are the ones working hardest on the in-centre experience.
That means more frequent visual refreshes, more seasonal moments, more pop-ups, more activations. All of which puts pressure on suppliers to move at a pace that the old print-and-install cycle wasn’t designed for.
Digital marketing is crowded. Your inbox is full. But a building wrap? You can’t scroll past that. A 10-metre banner? You can’t “AdBlock” it.
Large format printing provides a physical presence that digital simply cannot match. It anchors your brand in the real world. Whether you are using wayfinding signage to guide customers or wallpaper to inspire your employees, the physical environment is where the most powerful brand connections are made.
The Engine Room: A Fleet of High-Impact Technology
At Hollywood Monster, we don’t settle for “off-the-shelf.” We invest in a range of machinery that allows us to produce prints on a wide variety of materials, from heavy-duty vinyl to delicate, sustainable fabrics. Here is the breakdown of the types of large-format printers currently powering our Birmingham HQ.
VUTEk GS5000r & 5r
The VUTEk GS5000r and the VUTEk 5r are designed for grand-format excellence. These machines allow us to print up to 5 metres wide. This is the tech behind our world-class building wraps and massive stadium flags. They offer high-speed production without sacrificing the premium point-of-purchase quality your brand deserves.
FabriVU 340i
For our Tension Fabric Systems (TFS) and exhibition graphics, we turn to the FabriVU 340i. This is an aqueous-based soft signage printer that delivers deep, saturated colours that “pop.” It sublimates the ink directly into the fabric, meaning your BeMatrix skins or wallpaper won’t crack, peel, or fade.
VUTEk HS125 Pro & HS125 Pro II
Speed is often the difference between a successful launch and a missed opportunity. Our two Vutek HS125 Pro units are high-speed inkjet presses that handle massive volumes of large format signage and retail graphics with industrial-grade reliability.
EFI VUTEk M3h
This cutting-edge investment from CMYUK is a game-changer for both our team and our clients. As a “hybrid” printer, it can switch between rigid and flexible substrates seamlessly. This large-format printer utilises UV LED curing technology, which uses less energy and allows us to print on thinner, heat-sensitive, and sustainable materials that traditional printers would melt. This is the future of sustainable signage.

Precision Finishing: More Than Just Print
#MonsterImpact isn’t just about the ink; it’s about the finish. You can have the best print in the world, but if the edges are ragged or the eyelets pop, the brand suffers. That’s why you need to ensure your large-format projects are created not just by the best people in the business, but also by the best tech…
- ZUND G3 & ZUND 1800: These are the gold standard in digital cutting. We “Zund cut” our products to ensure a smoother, millimetre-perfect finish on everything from floor decals to 3D fabricated signage.
- Fiab High Frequency 18m Long Track Welder: This is how printers create those enormous building wraps. We weld sections of material together with high-frequency tech, creating a bond stronger than the material itself.
- Jover Semi-Automatic Brass Eyeleter: For banners and flags, this ensures every fixing point is reinforced and professionally finished.

Building Wraps & Banners
Using our 5-metre VUTEk fleet, we produce building wraps that dominate the skyline. These engineering feats are welded using our Fiab 18m Long Track Welder to ensure they stand up to the elements. For high-impact banners, we use the same large-format tech to ensure your message is seen across the landscape, finished with our Jover Semi-Automatic Brass Eyeleter for ultimate durability.
Exhibition Graphics & BeMatrix
The events industry moves at lightning speed, so your print and signage needs to keep up. Here at Hollywood Monster, we are specialists in BeMatrix – the modular frame system that has revolutionised event builds. By using the FabriVU 340i, we create high-definition fabric “skins” that slide into these frames for a sleek finish, making these the ideal signage for quick installation and re-use for bold signage, time and time again.

Hoardings & Wallpaper
First impressions start at the perimeter. We use our UV-curable tech to print directly onto rigid substrates for construction hoardings, ensuring they remain scratch-resistant and vibrant. Internally, we transform spaces using bespoke wallpaper: printed on our sustainable machines and Zund-cut for a seamless fit, our wallpaper turns plain office walls into brand statements. Whether you’re looking to transform interiors or exteriors, we’re here to make it look incredible.
Tension Fabric Systems (TFS) & Flags
Tension Fabric Systems (TFS) provide a premium, drum-tight finish for retail and corporate environments. By pairing our FabriVU prints with silicone gaskets, the fabric is stretched across frames for a flawless look. For outdoor movement, our flags are printed to withstand the wind while maintaining the vibrancy your brand needs.

The Hollywood Monster Difference
Why do global brands trust our Birmingham HQ? Because we manage the entire process in-house, from concept to installation, with sustainability in mind.
In 2024, our tech investments helped us divert 250,000kg of waste from landfill and cut 285 tonnes of CO2. By using UV LED printers like the new VUTEk M3h, we reduce energy consumption and open the door to PVC-free and PET-based materials like UFabrik. That’s how we create a #MonsterImpact with signage that treads lighter.
